Setzer, Samuel Hirsch

(1882-1962)

   American Yiddish and Hebrew journalist, of Polish origin. He was the literary editor of Nahum Sokolov's Hebrew journal Ha-Tzepihirah in Warsaw. Later he served as editor-in-chief of the Warsaw daily newspaper Der Telegraph. He lived in New York from 1912 to 1960, when he settled in Israel. He wrote studies of the German socialist writer Lassalle, Judah ha-Levi, the Baal Shem Tov and Nahman of Bratzlav.
